Blue Hens would lead by 12 points at the end of the first half.
It was a battle in the first four minutes and 77 seconds of the opening half of this game, as the lead changed hands seven times, and the score would be tied twice. The lead change during this time came from Princeton’s Ryan Langborg, who drained a three-pointer to put his team up 12-11 with 15:23 left in the first half.
Starting at the 13:49 minute mark, Delaware would outscore the Tigers 13-8 to take a 24-20 advantage with 8:13 remaining in the opening half. Jyáre Davis and LJ Owens scored seven of the Hens’ 13 points during the run.
UD’s defense also stepped up during this time, as they had four defensive rebounds, one block, and one steal.
Sixty-five seconds later, the Blue Hens would continue to pour on the points, as the team dashed off to a 13-5 run to expand their lead to 37-25 at the end of the first half. The duo of Davis and Owens remained hot for the Hens, as they scored all 13 points during that time.
Delaware wins 76-69!
The Blue Hens would jump out to a quick start in the second half as the team outscored Princeton 6-2 to extend their advantage to 16 points (43-27) with 18:05 remaining in the game. Jameer Nelson Jr. would score four of UD’s six points on the run.
Fast forward to the 8:58 minute mark, when the Tigers’ Ryan Langborg drained a three-point shot to slice the lead to ten points (58-48).
A minute and eight seconds later, Princeton would continue to chip away at the Blue Hens’ advantage, as the team outscored Delaware 20-11 to cut the deficit to one point (69-68) with 53 seconds left in the game.
The University of Delaware would make seven free throw shots to halt the Tigers’ comeback and seal a 76-69 victory.
