Delaware State leads by ten after one-quarter of play:
The game started with the Hornets flying off to a 15-3 advantage with 2:48 left in the first quarter. Denijsha Wilson and Savannah Brooks scored ten of DSU’s 15 points on the run. Delaware State’s defense was also strong on this run, as the team had four defensive rebounds and seven steals.
For the rest of the first quarter, DSU would add three more points to hold an 18-8 lead.
DSU leads by 22 at the end of the first half.
In the early minutes of the second quarter, Delaware State University continued its hot shooting, as the team scored 11 unanswered points to push their advantage to 29-9 with 6:31 left in the first half. Senior guard Sydney Watkins and Savannah Brooks scored seven of the Hornets’ 11 points on the run. Del State’s defense would continue to cause trouble for Wilmington as they had three steals during that time.
DSU would score eight more points in the second quarter to end the first half with a 37-15 lead.

Delaware State would continue to be too much for the Wildcats to handle. The Hornets would go on a 13-4 run in the early minutes of the second half to extend their advantage to 50-19 with 2:55 remaining in the third quarter. The duo of Denijsha Wilson and Savannah Brooks would score nine of DSU’s 13 points during this time. Del State’s defense continued to play on a high level, as they had five defensive rebounds and four steals.
The Hornets’ next bucket would come near the end of the third quarter, where they took a 52-22 lead.
Delaware State wins 66-36!
In the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter, Wilmington would show some fight as they outscored DSU 11-7 to cut the lead to 59-33 with 3:07 remaining in the game.
Fifty-three seconds later, the Hornets would slam the door on the Wildcats’ budding momentum, as they would go on a 7-3 run to seal a 66-36 win.
