Romero & Hannesbo score twice in Wilmington University’s 5-2 win over Dominican (N.Y.)

Wilmington University leads by two goals at the end of the first half.

The scoreboard did not stay silent in this match for very long as at the 6:36 minute mark, Richard Thompson would find Malthe Hannesbo, who would head the ball in from the left side of the field to give WilmU a 1-0 lead.

In the next 36 minutes, the Wilmington offense would pepper off 14 shots at Dominican’s goalkeeper David Arteaga. Despite the consistent barrage of attempts during that time, none would result in points.

A minute later, after the Wildcats’ last shot, the team this time would get one past Arteaga, as Pol Romero would score the goal to extend his team’s advantage to 2-0. Malcom Young and Deshawn Bernard would assist on Romero’s first points of the day.

WilmU wins 5-2!

Wilmington would continue their scoring ways after halftime, as Marius Skattum Dahl found Tajhay Williams, who would find the net to give their team a 3-0 lead at the 57:12 minute mark.

At the 73:05 minute mark, the Chargers would finally get on the board when the team scored their first goal of the game to cut the lead to 3-1.

Five minutes and 37 seconds later, Dominican would score their second straight goal of the second half to pull their deficit to 3-2.

Almost seven minutes later, the Wildcats would halt the Chargers’ momentum, as Marius Skattum Dahl would find Pol Romero, who would score his second goal of the game to extend their team’s lead to 4-2.

The last score of the game would come at the 89:29 minute mark when Malthe Hannesbo would win the battle versus the Chargers goalkeeper to push in his second goal of the day. Hannesbo’s goal would seal a 5-2 win for Wilmington.
