Wilmington leads by two runs after one inning of play
The Wildcats would waste no time getting on the scoreboard in this game, as the team would score two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Lauren Lopez would push in the first run of the game in the bottom of the first when she hit a two-out solo home run to left field to give her team a 1-0 lead.
After Haley Downin earned a spot on second base with a double, Gabbie Saucedo would come up to the plate and hit a single to center field, which allowed Downin to score to give Wilmington a 2-0 lead.
Wildcats score a combined two runs in the third and fourth innings
In the bottom of the third inning, Gabbie Saucedo would push in another run for WilmU as she hit a two-out RBI single to give her team a 3-0 lead.
Wilmington would add another run in the fourth inning, but this score came thanks to their speed on the bases. The score would come when Tristyn Stewart would steal third base, but then would score on an error by Bloomfield’s catcher to extend the Cats’ lead to 4-0.
Wilmington wins 4-1!
The Wildcats starting pitcher Kylee Gunkel was rolling through the Bears’ lineup as she threw five scoreless innings against the team, but Bloomfield would end the streak in the top of the sixth inning.
The Bears would score their first run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning when Daniela Vidal hit a two-out RBI double to cut the lead to 4-1.
After the run scored, Gunkel was able to get the next batter to fly out to seal the 4-1 win.
