The third batter in the inning would start the action on the bases, which was junior outfielder Nic Hertzfeld, who earned a trip to first base on a walk. Two batters later, John McDonald would walk up to the plate, and he would hit a single up the middle, which would allow Jimenez to score to give their team a 3-0 lead.
The scoring party would continue in the third inning, as Wilmington’s Erik Grady would hit a three-run homer to give his team a 6-0 lead.
