Musey and Lindsey Jr. homer in Goldey-Beacom’s 10-6 win over Jefferson

Goldey-Beacom trails by two runs after two innings

The action in Tuesday’s game started in the top of the second inning, where Jefferson had five hits and turned them into four runs. All four runs came from three Rams batters hitting RBI doubles.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Lightning would respond with Marlon Lindsey Jr. hitting a two-run homer to center field to cut the lead to 4-2.

Jefferson would add another run to their lead in the third inning, as Arturo Figueroa would hit an RBI sacrifice fly to give his team a 5-2 advantage. Goldey-Beacom would also score another run in the bottom of the third inning, as Kyle Walker also hit an RBI sacrifice fly to trim the lead to 5-3.

Lightning scores six runs in the fourth inning

The key inning of this game was in the top of the fourth inning, where Goldey-Beacom scored six runs to take a 9-5 lead.

After the first two batters in the inning walked, Mason Maxwell would step up to the plate, as he would hit an RBI single to right field to cut the lead to 5-4. Two batters later, Garrett Musey would come up to bat, as he would hit a three-run homer to give the Lightning a 7-5 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Three batters later, Connor Megginson would hit a two-RBI single to left-center field to push the lead to 9-5.

After four innings of work, Goldey-Beacom’s starting pitcher Anthony Dimartino’s day would be done, as he gave up six hits, five runs, five earned runs, five strikeouts, and two walks.

Tommy Federici relieved Dimartino, as he went three innings, gave up one hit, five strikeouts, and earned the win.

Goldey-Beacom wins 10-6!

Fast forward to the bottom of the seventh inning, where the Lightning would add another run to their large lead. The run in the inning came when Mason Maxwell hit a two-out RBI double to the right-center to give his team a 10-5.

In the top of the eighth inning, Wyatt Atkinson would come in for Federici, as he went one inning, gave up one hit, one run, one earned run, one walk, and one strikeout. The run Atkinson gave up would come from an RBI ground out, which trimmed Goldey’s lead to 10-6.

Justin Jump would come in the game to seal the 10-6 win for Goldey-Beacom, which he did just that as he went one inning, and gave up one hit.
