Blue Hens lead by seven points after one half of play
The game started with Delaware taking a 15-8 advantage with 12:57 left to play in the first half. The trio of Kevin Anderson, Jameer Nelson Jr., and Jyare Davis would score all 15 points on the run.
Thirty-two seconds later, the Blue Hens would continue to grow their lead as the team went on a 17-8 run to take a 32-16 advantage with 4:59 left in the first half. Davis, Dylan Painter, and Nelson Jr. would score 15 of the 17 points on the run.
Thirteen seconds later, Towson would claw right back into this game as the team went on a 12-3 run to trim the lead to seven points (35-28) at the end of the first half.
Hens win 69-56!
The Tigers would bring their hot shooting from the late minutes of the first half into the early minutes of the second as the team went on a 7-2 run to cut the lead to two points (37-35) with 17:16 remaining in the game.
Almost a minute later, Delaware would respond by outscoring Towson 17-9 to push their lead back up to ten points (54-44) with 8:14 left to play in the game. The duo of fifth-year guard Ryan Allen and Kevin Anderson would score 12 of the 17 points on the run. The University of Delaware drained three shots from the three-point line on the run, two came from Anderson, and one came from junior guard Ebby Asamoah.
Rebounding was also a factor on the run as the team collected seven rebounds. The Hens defense also stepped up during the run by swiping three steals.
Fast forward to 1:10 minute mark where Towson’s Charles Thompson would hit a layup to cut the lead to nine points (63-54).
Seven seconds later, the Blue Hens would go on a 6-2 run, which would seal a 69-56 win and a ticket to the CAA Championship game. All six points came from the free-throw line.
