It would be the Wildcats, who would score first in this game as Sara Miller would hit a single to third base, which would bring home Haley Downin on an error to give their team a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Seven run inning for Wildcats in the second inning
The fire in WilmU’s bats continued in the second inning as the team scored seven runs to extend their lead to 8-0.
Savannah Stone would be the first batter up in the bottom of the second inning as she hit a double to right-center field. On the next play, she would advance to third base on a passed ball and then score on a wild pitch to give her team a 2-0 lead.
Three batters later, Haley Downin would hit a single up the middle, which would allow Jessica Ahearn to score to push Wilmington’s lead to 3-0.
Sara Miller would be the next batter as she would hit a single to third base, and then on the next play, she would advance to second on a wild pitch. The wild pitch would allow Alicia Bruce to score to expand the Wildcats’ lead to 4-0 in the second inning.
On the next play, Downin would also score on a wild pitch to give her team a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.
The sixth run of the game for WilmU would also be from a wild pitch as it would bring Miller home.
Two batters later, Alyssa Velasquez would hit a single through the left side of the field, which would send Lauren Lopez home to push Wilmington’s lead to 7-0.
The last run of the second inning for the Wildcats came when Isabella Eleazar grounded out to second base, but Arianna Millan would score to give their team an 8-0 lead.

Goldey-Beacom finally gets on the board in the third inning
The Lightning would get their first runs of the doubleheader in the third inning when Kasey Goshorn hit a double to the left-center field, which would push in two runs.
After Goldey-Beacom’s two runs, Wilmington’s starting pitcher Alexandra Ballester’s day would be over as she went two innings, gave up five hits, two runs, two earned runs, and one walk.
In the bottom of the third inning, WilmU would add another run to their lead as Alicia Bruce would ground out to the shortstop, but that would allow Jessica Ahearn to score to give their team a 9-0 advantage.
WilmU wins 10-2!
Wilmington would add one last run in the bottom of the fourth as Isabella Eleazar would hit a double to right-center field, which would score Alyssa Velasquez to extend their lead to 10-2.
In the top of the fifth inning, it was all up to the Wildcats pitcher Molly Dill to seal the 10-2 win, which she did just that as she faced four batters, gave up one hit, hit one batter, and gave up zero runs.
