Wilmington scored three runs in the first inning

It might have been a new game, but the Wildcats continued their scoring ways in this one by scoring three runs in the first inning.

The first run of the game came when Shawn Haut hit into a sacrifice fly (flew out to right field), which would bring home Quintin Ivy and Dom Fiorentino to give WilmU a 2-0 lead.

Three batters later, Jack McDonald would hit a single up the middle of the field, which would allow JJ Killen to score to push Wilmington’s lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning.

Nyack scores their first runs of the day in the second inning

The Warriors were shut out in the first game of the day, but that would not be the case in the second one, as Sam Abreu would hit a two-run home run in the second inning to cut the lead to 3-2.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Wildcats would answer with a home run of their own, as Quintin Ivy hit a two-run home run to give his team a 5-2 lead. Ivy’s home run was his second homer of the day as he hit one in the first game.

Wildcats add five more runs in the third inning

In the top of the third inning, Nyack’s Eric Bittiger hit into a sacrifice fly (flew out to right field) which allowed his teammate Lawrence Lubchuk to score to close the lead to 5-3.

Wilmington would answer back by scoring five runs of their own in the third inning.

The first run of the bottom of the third inning came when Adrian Jimenez hit a sacrifice fly (flown out to center field), which would score Nic Hertzfeld to give their team a 6-3 lead.

Three plays later, Ryan Speed would head home on a wild pitch as WilmU took a 7-3 lead in the bottom of the third inning.

The next batter up would be Quintin Ivy as he hit a double to left field, which would allow Brock Nowell to score to push their team’s lead to 8-3.

On the next play, Ivy would steal third base, and he would score on a passed ball to give Wilmington a 9-3 lead in the third inning.

The last run of the inning would come from JJ Killen, who hit a single up the left side, which would score Shawn Haut to extend their team’s lead to 10-3.

After fighting through four innings, Wilmington’s starting pitcher AJ Stento would exit the game by giving up three runs, three earned runs, four hits, two walks, five strikeouts, one home run, and earned the win.

Ryan Sandberg would come into the game for Stento in the fifth inning, as he went two innings, two walks, and four strikeouts.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Wildcats would add one last run as Jack McDonald hit into a sacrifice fly (flown out to left field), which would bring JJ Killen home to expand their team’s lead to 11-3.

Dom Grady came in the game for Sandberg in the seventh inning as he went one inning, gave up one hit, and sealed the 11-3 win.
