Wildcats push in four runs in the first inning
The top of the first inning started with WilmU’s Dom Fiorentino and Quintin Ivy getting hit by a pitch. Then both runners would advance to second and third bases due to a wild pitch.
Dan Hyatt was the next batter up to bat, which he would earn a walk.

Shawn Haut would follow Killen’s lead as he would hit a double to center field, which would score Killen, Ivy, and Hyatt to give the Wildcats a 4-0 lead.

Wilmington would add two more runs in the second inning
Brock Nowell would start the second inning off for WilmU by hitting a single, and then Quintin Ivy would follow with getting a walk. Dan Hyatt would get a bunt single which would load up the bases for the Wildcats.
JJ Killen would be the next at-bat, which he would reach base on a fielder’s choice, but that would score Nowell to push Wilmington’s lead to 5-0.
Two batters later, Nic Hertzfeld would hit a single to left field which would score Ivy to give their team a 6-0 lead.
WilmU continues to add to their lead in third
The first scoring run in the third inning for the Wildcats would be when Dom Fiorentino hit a single to the right-center field, which would score Matt Warrington to expand their team’s lead to 7-0.
The second run of the inning happened when Quintin Ivy earned a walk which was followed by Fiorentino stealing a base. Fiorentino would then score on an error which gave Wilmington an 8-0 lead.

Nyack gets on the board in the fourth
In the top of the fourth inning, the Wildcats would add two more runs to their lead.
The first run came when Nic Hertzfeld hit a triple to the right-center field, which would score JJ Killen to give their team a 9-0 lead.
The second run of the inning came when Joey Cautillo struck out, but Hertzfeld would score to give WilmU a 10-0 lead in the fourth inning.
After pitching three scoreless innings, Kyle Maxwell hit some bumps in the fourth inning as he gave up two runs.
Both of Nyack’s runs came from RBI walks which cut the lead to 10-2.
Wildcats push two runs in the fifth inning
The first run of the fifth inning for Wilmington came when JJ Killen earned an RBI walk which would score Brock Nowell to give their team an 11-2 lead.
The next run of the inning would come when Nic Hertzfeld earned a sacrifice fly (flied out to centerfield), which would score Dan Hyatt to push WilmU’s lead to 12-2.
After facing four batters and getting two outs in the fifth inning, Kyle Maxwell’s day was done as he went 4.2 innings, gave up three hits, two runs, two earned runs, four walks, seven strikeouts, and earned the win.
Freshman pitcher Xander Emberger would come in for Maxwell as he went 1.1 innings, gave up two walks and three strikeouts.
Wilmington adds one run in the sixth inning
In the top of the sixth inning, Quintin Ivy would hit a two-out RBI single, which would score Brett Brooks to give their team a 13-2 lead.
WilmU win 14-2
The last scoring run of the game for the Wildcats happened when CJ Deery grounded out to the shortstop, which would allow JJ Killen to score to give their team a 14-2 lead.
Justin Barcoski would come in the seventh inning for Emberger as he only allowed one hit and sealed Wilmington’s 14-2 win over Nyack.
