Hens lead by four after one-quarter of play
The game started with the Blue Hens getting hot early as the team took an 8-2 lead with 6:26 left in the first quarter. One of the highlights of the run was redshirt junior guard/forward Chyna Latimer hitting a three-point shot for the first points of the game.
In the next four minutes, Clemson would outscore the Hens 11-9, which would cut the lead to four points (17-13) with two minutes left in the first quarter.
Delaware would score four more points in the first quarter to take a 21-17 lead into the second quarter.
Blue Hens lead by five at the end of the first half
The Tigers would claw into the lead in the early minutes of the second quarter as the team went on a 9-3 run, which gave them a 26-24 lead with 7:32 left in the first half.
Seconds later, the Hens would grab the lead right back as the team went on a 13-2 run, which gave them a 37-28 lead with 3:37 left in the first half. The leader of this run was Jasmine Dickey, who scored six of the 13 points. Rebounding was a key factor on this run, as the team collected seven rebounds.
Starting at the 3:25 minute mark, Clemson would go on an 11-4 run which cut the lead to two points (41-39) with three seconds left in the first half.
As the final seconds ran down in the first half, Delaware’s Tyi Skinner would drain a three-point shot from half court as the buzzer sounded to give her team a 44-39 lead.
Delaware leads by eight after three-quarters of play
The second half started with the Tigers outscoring the Hens 9-4, which tied the game at 48 with 6:56 left in the third quarter.
In the next two minutes, Clemson would continue to outscore Delaware by 6-3, which gave the team a 54-51 lead with 4:47 left in the third quarter.
Seconds later, the Blue Hens would score seven straight points, which gave the team a 58-54 lead with 3:02 left in the third quarter.
Starting at the 2:33 minute mark, the Hens would go on a 6-2 run, which extended their lead to 64-58 at the end of the third quarter. The highlight play on this run was Tyi Skinner hitting her second three-point shot from half court as the buzzer sounded for the end of the third quarter.
Hens win by 13
Delaware’s play ramped up in the early minutes of the fourth quarter as the team went on a 10-2 run to push their lead to 74-60 with 6:47 left in the game. The defensive play of the Hens was strong during the run as the team had three steals.
About a minute later, the Blue Hens would outscore the Tigers 13-7, which gave the team a 20 point lead (87-67) with 2:14 left in the game. The duo of Tyi Skinner and senior guard Tee Johnson would score nine of the 13 points on the run.
Clemson would score seven straight points in the following minutes, but it would not matter as Delaware took home an 87-74 win.
