DSU down by two points after one-quarter of play
The first quarter action was quite intense as the lead changed hands five times, and the score was tied three times in the ten minute period. The final lead change came with 23 seconds left in the first quarter as Coppin State’s Hope Evans made a jumper to give her team an 11-9 lead.

Hornets up by nine at the end of the first half
DSU would start the second quarter by flying out on an 18-5 run, which gave the team a 27-16 with 1:38 left in the first half. The leader of this run was Kiana Coomber, who scored six of the 18 points. The Lady Hornets defense stepped up big in the run, with the team collecting six defensive rebounds and four steals.
The last bucket of the first half came from the Eagles, which cut the lead to 27-19 at the end of the first half.
Delaware State lead by 22 after three-quarters of play
DSU would bring their momentum from the first half right into the second half as the team went on a 16-7 run, which extended their lead to 43-26 with 4:15 left in the third quarter. The duo of DeMaurea Moore and senior guard Janasia Law would score 12 of the 16 points on the run.
Starting at the 3:51 minute mark, the Lady Hornets would continue to add to their lead as the team outscored Coppin State 10-7, which pushed DSU’s lead to 55-33 at the end of the third quarter.
DSU wins by 13
Delaware State would continue their hot streak in the early minutes of the fourth quarter as the team went on a 10-2 run which expanded their lead to 30 points (65-35) with 6:27 left in the game. The Lady Hornets drained two shots from the three-point line during the run which came from Sharajah Collins and graduate Student guard Daije Harris. Rebounding was also a key on this run as the Hornets collected six rebounds.
At the 6:16 minute mark, the Eagles would start to climb back into this game with a 17-3 run, but it was not enough as DSU would hang on to win 68-55.
