Blue Hens hold a seven-point lead after one-quarter of play
In the first four minutes of this game, it would be all Delaware as the team jumped out an 11-2 lead, which was led by the duo of Jasmine Dickey and Ty Battle, who scored eight of 11 points. Dickey also had three steals during the 11-2 run.
Around the 5:05 minute mark, the Hens would outscore Hofstra 7-4 to extend their lead to 18-6 with 1:46 left in the first quarter. Four of the seven points on this run came from the foul line.
At the 1:11 minute mark, the Pride would start to come alive as the team went on a 7-2 run to cut the lead to seven points (20-13) at the end of the first quarter.
Delaware takes an 11 point lead into the half
Just like the first quarter, the Blue Hens would come out in the second quarter rolling as the team went on a 9-1 run to expand their lead to 29-14 with 3:57 left in the first half. The Hens defensive play was a huge part of the run as the team had four steals and four defensive rebounds.
Seconds later, Hofstra would answer back with a 6-2 run of their own, as the team cut the lead to 11 points (31-20) at the end of the first half.
Six of Delaware’s 11 points in the second quarter came from capitalizing off of the Pride’s turnovers.
Hens lead by 13 after three-quarters of play
Hofstra came out with some fight in the first four minutes of the second half as the team went on a 10-2 run to close the lead to three points (33-30) with six minutes left in the third quarter.
Starting at the 5:28 minute mark, the Hens would start to pull away as the team went on a 13-2 run to extend their lead to 46-33 after three-quarters of play. The leader of this run was Jasmine Dickey, who scored six of the 13 points. Also, six of the 13 points came from the three-point line, which junior guard Jewel Smalls and Tyi Skinner each sunk one.
Rebounding was also a key part of the 13-2 run as the Blue Hens collected seven rebounds.
Blue Hens win by 19
The Hens would continue their momentum from the third quarter by starting the final quarter off with a 14-9 run, which gave the team a 60-46 lead with 2:47 left in the game. The leading scorer on this run was Jasmine Dickey, who scored six of the 14 points. Once again, the three-point shot was a key part of a run as junior guard/forward Chyna Latimer and junior guard Paris McBride each made one this time.
Starting at the 1:56 minute mark, Delaware would outscore Hofstra 5-4 to seal a dominating 65-46 win.
Twelve of Delaware’s 19 points in the fourth quarter came from capitalizing off of the Pride’s turnovers.
