Hens hold a nine-point lead after one-quarter of play

Starting at the 3:12 mark, the Hens would outscore the Panthers 10-7 for the rest of the first quarter to take a 24-15 lead. The key player during this time for Delaware was once again Dickey, who scored six of the ten points, collected one rebound, and had a steal.

Two key stats in the first quarter was turnovers and points off turnovers.

Pittsburgh turned the ball over nine times in the first quarter, but the Blue Hens only turned the ball over once in the quarter.

The Hens would turn the Panthers’ turnovers into 12 points in the first quarter.

Delaware holds a three-point lead at the half

Pittsburgh would find their groove in the second quarter as the team came out on an 11-5, which cut the Blue Hens lead to three points (29-26) with 5:01 left in the first half.

In the next two minutes, the Panthers would cut Delaware’s lead to one point twice, which the final time was at the 3:07 minute mark with the score being 33-32.

Starting at the two-minute mark, the Blue Hens would outscore Pittsburgh 7-5 to extend their lead to 40-37 going into the half.

The impact player during this time was Tee Johnson, who scored all seven points for the Hens. Johnson also drained two shots from the three-point line during that time.

Pittsburgh gobbled up the rebounds in the second quarter as they had 15 and the Hens had six.

The game tied at 62 after three-quarters of play

The Panthers came roaring out of halftime as the team went on a 12-4 run to take 49-44 lead with 5:50 left in the third quarter.

In the next two minutes, Delaware would cut Pittsburgh’s lead to one point twice, which the final time was at the 3:08 minute mark when Tee Johnson drained a three-pointer to get the deficit at 56-55.

About a minute later, Johnson would drain another three-point shot, which tied the game at 58 with 2:01 left in the third.

Not even a minute later, the Panthers Dayshanette Harris would make back to back shots to give her team a 62-58 lead with 56 seconds left in the quarter.

Delaware would answer back with back to back points of their own, with freshman guard Tyi Skinner hitting a three-point shot and senior forward Lizzie Oleary made a free throw shot to tie the game at 62 to end the third quarter.

Pittsburgh had their best shooting percentage of the game in the third quarter with 61.11 % (11-18).

The Blue Hens had their best shooting percentage of the game in the third quarter with 53.33 % (8-15).

The Panthers outscored the Hens 14-2 in the paint in the third quarter.

Hens win by six

In the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter, it was a battle of the buckets as the lead changed hands eight times, and the score was tied four times. The final lead change during those seven minutes came from Paris McBride, who hit a jump shot to give Delaware a 76-4 lead with 3:35 left in the game.

The Blue Hens would add six more points to their lead after McBride’s basket, which expanded their lead to 82-74 with 1:25 left in the game.

In the remaining minutes of the fourth quarter, Pittsburgh would outscore Delaware 5-3, but Delaware would hang on to win 85-79.

Two key stats in the fourth quarter were turnovers and second-chance points.

The Blue Hens won the turnover battle by 2-7.

The Hens also took advantage of their opportunities at their basket after an offensive rebound as the team scored seven second-chance points.
