The Goldey-Beacom women’s soccer team is heading to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament semifinals, after defeating Holy Family 2-0 on Tuesday at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field.
This is the Lightning’s third consecutive year reaching the semifinals which is a school record.
The standouts in the game for Goldey-Beacom were senior midfielder Jenna Fannon and freshman goalkeeper Noel Talbot.
Fannon had five shots, three shots at the goal and two goals.
Talbot allowed zero goals and had four saves in 90 minutes of play.
Fannon’s Scores Two Goals in The First Period which Leads to Goldey’s Win
The first score in the game came at the 15:11 minute mark when Jenna Fannon found the net to get the Lightning a 1-0 lead. Fannon’s goal was assisted by junior forward Taylor Owen.
Fannon was not done yet, as five minutes later the senior midfielder found the net again which pushed Goldey-Beacom’s lead to 2-0. Fannon’s second goal was assisted by junior forward Line Kristoffersen.
The defense would do the rest of the work as the Lightning would take home a 2-0 win to earn a place in the CACC semifinals.
Goldey-Beacom will take on Jefferson on November 15th at 10 am in the CACC semifinals.
