The Goldey-Beacom College women’s basketball team earned its fifth win of the season on Tuesday with a 89-69 win over the Wilmington University Wildcats.
Sophomore forward Lydia Betz led the team in scoring in the win, with 20 points.
Senior guard Rory Ciszkowski recorded a double-double in the win, with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Two other Goldey-Beacom players who scored in double digits in the win were Junior guard Genesis Garcia (17) and Freshman forward Eva Walker (13).
The Lightning had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points off turnovers (24-20), bench points (27-20), assists (22-10), and turnovers (16-17).
Goldey-Beacom also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 55.7%(34-61) and Wilmington shooting 32.9% (25-76). GBC bested the Wildcats at the three-point line as the team shot 50.0% (12-24) and Wilmington 11.8% (2-17). Lightning was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 69.2%(9-13), and the Wildcats shot 65.4% (17-26).

The Lightning started the game by taking a quick 12-8 edge over the Wildcats with 6:21 remaining in the opening period. Senior guard Karlee Lemon drained two shots from the three-point line during that stretch.
WilmU would score six straight points to grab a 14-12 advantage over GBC with 3:55 left on the clock in the first.
Goldey-Beacom took the lead right back, as the team outscored Wilmington 7-4 for the rest of the opening quarter to take a 19-18 edge into the second.
The Lightning leads by 12 points at the end of the first half.
GBC caught fire in the second as it outscored WilmU 21-10 to take a 40-28 advantage into halftime. Rory Ciszkowski, Genesis Garcia, and Sophomore guard Marasia Dyes led the charge by scoring 17 of the 21 points. Ciszkowski found her shot in the quarter, making three of her four shot attempts and nailing two of her three shot attempts from the three-point line.
GBC leads by 15 at the end of the third quarter.
It was the Genesis Garcia show in the third as the Wildcat defenders had no way to stop her, as Garcia scored ten of the team’s 28 points to push Goldey’s advantage to 68-53 heading into the fourth.

Lydia Betz and Senior forward Gaia Zimbardo took over the game in the fourth, with the duo scoring 11 of the team’s 21 points to help seal a 89-69 win over the Wildcats.
