The Wilmington University men’s soccer team is headed to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Semifinal after pushing through double overtime to get a tough 3-2 win over the Felician University Golden Falcons on Sunday.

In this CACC tournament matchup, Felician lit up the scoreboard first, as they scored a goal at the 11:21 mark to give their team a 1-0 edge.
Sixteen minutes and 16 seconds later, the Wildcats Graduate student midfielder Tyrese Small, who headed the ball in for the score to tie the game up at one. Freshman midfielder Jacques Mason assisted on the score.
Later, near the end of the first half, sophomore forward Matthew Yi blasted the ball from 25 yards out for the score to give WilmU a 2-1 advantage at halftime.
The Cats outshot the Golden Falcons 10-2 in the opening half.
No winner after 90 minutes of play in this match.
For most of the second half, Wilmington held its 2-1 lead, but then at the 84:51 minute mark, everything changed.
Felician’s Matt Greenway would find the back of the net at the 84:51 minute mark to tie the game at two and then force the match into overtime.
WilmU takes home a 3-2 win after battling through double overtime!
The first overtime came and went with neither team finding the net, which meant they were heading to double overtime to crown a winner.
At the very end of the second overtime period, Sophomore forward Michiharu Takanashi took hold of a rebound. He then bounced it in for the game-winning goal, sending Wilmington to the CACC Semifinals with a 3-2 victory. Junior defender Sam Harrison assisted on the score.

The standouts in the game for the Wildcats were Tyrese Small, Jacques Mason, Matthew Yi, Michiharu Takanashi, Sam Harrison, and freshman goalkeeper Emil Lollike.
Small had two shots, one shot at the goal, and scored one goal in the win.
Mason had two shots and one assist in the match.
Yi had one shot, one shot at the goal, and scored one goal in the victory.
Takanashi had six shots, two shots at the goal, and scored one goal in the win.
Harrison had one shot, one shot at the goal, and had one assist in the game.
Lollike allowed two goals and had three saves in 106 minutes and 13 seconds in the win.
