CACC First round: Two second half goals lift Wilmington University over Georgian Court

The Wilmington University women’s soccer team is heading to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Semifinal, for the first time since 2021, after defeating the Georgian Court University Lions 2-0 on Saturday.

Wilmington University takes home a 2-0 win!

The scoreboard remained silent in the first half of this opening round tournament match, as neither team could score a goal. WilmU did outshoot Georgian Court 6-0 in the opening half.

Freshman forward Eboni Bradshaw broke the silence at the 47:48 minute mark in the second half, when she found the back of the net to give the Cats a 1-0 edge. Junior defender Sophia Filipowski assisted on the score.

Wilmington added one more goal late, when junior forward Sierra Bartley outmuscled and outran the Lions’ defenders for the ball and eased the ball in the net past the goalkeeper to seal a 2-0 victory. Graduate student midfielder Claudia Gillum assisted on the goal.

The standouts in the game for the Wildcats were  Eboni Bradshaw, Sierra Bartley, Sophia Filipowski, Claudia Gillum, and junior goalkeeper Arianna Myers.

Bradshaw had one shot, one shot at the goal, and scored one game in the win.

Bartley had four shots, four shots at the goal and scored in the goal in the victory.

Filipowski had one shot, one shot at the goal, and one assist in the win.

Gillum had one assist in the game.

Myers allowed zero goals and had two saves in 90 minutes in the game.
