The Wilmington University softball team takes game one of the NCAA Division II East Super Regional by defeating the Pace University Setters in a walk 1-0 win in nine innings on Thursday. WilmU plays the second game of the series on Friday.

Wilmington University takes home a 1-0 win!
The Pitching staff of both teams dominated for eight innings by giving up a combined five hits and zero runs during that time.
Senior catcher Bella Barnes would change that in the top of the ninth by slugging a solo home run to center field to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.
WilmU’s pitching would close the door on the win in the bottom of the inning by getting three quick outs.
Pitching Recap:
Senior pitcher Kylee Gunkel pitched 4.2 innings, gave up three hits, one walk, and struck out one batter.
Freshman pitcher/outfielder Maddie Vollmar went 1.1 innings and gave up one hit.
Graduate student pitcher Delani Sheehan earned the win by pitching three innings and striking out three batters.
