Goldey-Beacom earns a split versus Caldwell with 8-0 win

On Saturday, the Goldey-Beacom College softball team earned a split versus the Caldwell University Cougars. The Lightning won the first game 8-0 and lost the second match 2-1.

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom leads by seven runs at the end of the second inning.

The Lighting struck first in this matchup, as the team scored two runs on three hits in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 edge.

Junior outfielder Delaney Insinga started the scoring in the inning by hitting an RBI double to left center.

Three plays later, Senior infielder Alex Lowry pushed a run home when she grounded out to the shortstop.

In the next inning, GBC continued to find ways to add to their lead by scoring five runs on three hits and one error to give the team a 7-0 advantage.

 Senior infielder Bryn Bohmann lit up the scoreboard in the second with a three-run double down the left-field line, which gave her team a 5-0 edge.

Two plays later, Alex Lowry slapped an RBI single up the middle to extend the score to 6-0.

Senior pitcher Wynter Radcliffe wrapped up the inning by scoring on a wild pitch to give her team a 7-0 lead.

The Lightning takes home an 8-0 win!

Fast forward to the fifth inning, where Goldey-Beacom added one more run to their total when Sophomore Utility player McKenna Frank pushed a run home with a Sac Bunt to seal an 8-0 win!

Pitching Recap:

Senior pitcher Caitlyn Burch went five innings, gave up one hit, and one walk, struck out nine batters, hit two batters, and earned the win.
