Wilmington University’s winning streak hits 4 with 6-0 win over Dominican (N.Y.)

The Wilmington University men’s soccer team earned their sixth victory of the season on Saturday with a 6-0 win over the Dominican University New York Chargers.

Game Recap:

Wilmington University holds a 3-0 lead at the end of the first half.

The Wildcats did not waste any time in this match lighting up the scoreboard, as in the first 25 seconds of the opening half, Redshirt Freshman forward Jhamaleek Porter found the back of the net to give his team a 1-0 lead. Graduate student midfielder Lenny Greifenberg assisted on Porter’s goal.

Graduate student forward Theo Faillon expanded WilmU’s lead to 3-0 when he made two penalty kicks in the first half around the two-minute and 13-minute mark.

The Wildcats take home a 6-0 victory!

WilmU started off the second half with a bang as  Freshman forward Michiharu Takanashi found the net on back-to-back scores for his team to put them up 5-0 at the 77-minute mark.  Lenny Greifenberg assisted on Takanashi’s first goal and junior midfielder Alex Tarway and freshman forward Stanley Ho helped on the second score.

A minute later, Tarway scored a goal of his own to seal a 6-0 win for the Wildcats.

Stats and standouts:

The standouts in the game for the Wildcats were Michiharu Takanashi, Theo Faillon, Jhamaleek Porter, Lenny Greifenberg, Alex Tarway, Stanley Ho, and sophomore goalkeeper Charlie Phillips.

Takanashi had five shots, three shots at the goal, and two goals in the game.

Faillon had four shots, two shots at the goal, and two goals in the victory.

Porter had four shots, one shot at the goal, two shots at the goal, and one goal in the win.

Greifenberg had two assists in the game.

Tarway had six shots, three shots at the goals, one goal, and one assist in the victory.

Phillips allowed zero goals in 90 minutes and had two saves in the match.
