The Wilmington University softball is advancing to the NCAA Division II Softball East Regional Final after the team beat the Assumption University Greyhounds 3-0 on Saturday. The Wildcats play the Greyhounds again on Sunday at 10 am ET for a trip to the East Super Regional.

Wilmington University leads by one run at the end of the first inning.

The Wildcats would get on the board first in this NCAA II tournament matchup, as senior right fielder Sara Miller pushed in a run with a Sac Fly to right field to give her team a 1-0 edge in the top of the opening inning.

The Wildcats take home a 3-0 win!

Wilmington would push in two more runs in the third inning when junior outfielder Tristyn Stewart hit an RBI single to left field and then scored on a muffed throw by Assumption’s third baseman to give her team a 3-0 advantage.

Junior starting pitcher Kylee Gunkel confused the Assumption hitters all game, as she went seven innings, gave up four hits, struck out four batters, and earned the win.
