Kolmansberger blasts 3 home runs in Goldey-Beacom’s 14-3 win over Holy Family

The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team picks up a 14-3 victory over the Holy Family University Tigers on Tuesday.

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom leads by five runs at the end of the first inning.

Holy Family would be the first team to get on the board in this game as the team took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

The Lightning would respond in the bottom of the inning by scoring six runs on six hits to take a 6-1 edge.

Junior infielder Braden Kolmansberger would tie the game at one when he came up to the plate in the inning and hit a solo home run to left field.

Two batters later, senior infielder Darin Miller also slapped a solo homer to left field to push the score to 2-1.

Senior outfielder Demetrius Johnson would continue the team’s scoring ways, as he knocked a two-run double to left center to give his team a 4-1 advantage.

Junior outfielder Matt Benner would be the next batter, as he smoked a two-run single down the right field line to push the score to 6-1.

The Lightning would take a seven-run lead at the end of the second inning.

Braden Kolmansberger would push his third run of the day in the second inning when he hit a two-run homer to left center to give GBC an 8-1 lead.

GBC leads by ten runs at the end of the fourth inning.

After being silenced for two innings, Holy Family would get on the board again in the fourth when Dalton Turner knocked a RBI single to right center to cut the deficit to 8-2.

Goldey-Beacom would respond in the bottom of the inning, with the team scoring four runs on three hits to take a 12-2 advantage. 

Darin Miller would push in his second RBI of the day when he hit a single to give his team a 9-2 edge.

Senior second baseman Kyle Walker came up to the plate next and slapped a three-run homer to left field to give his team a 12-2 lead.

Goldey-Beacom takes home a 14-3 victory!

The Tigers would push in their last run of the game in the fifth inning with an RBI Sac fly to slice the score to 12-3.

GBC would answer back in the bottom of the inning when Braden Kolmansberger pushed in his fifth RBI of the day with a two-run homer to left center to give his team a 14-3 advantage.

Pitching Recap:

Sophomore pitcher Kevin Dillon went six innings, gave up six hits, three runs, two earned runs, three walks, struck out four batters, and earned the win.

Senior pitcher Lance Hinton closed out the game as he went one inning, gave up one hit, struck out one batter, hit one batter, and one walk.
