Game Recap:
Goldey-Beacom trails by two runs at the end of the first inning.
The Lightning would strike first in the game, as junior infielder Braden Kolmansberger would score on a throwing error to give his team a 1-0 lead in the top of the opening.
Post would answer back in the bottom of the first when the team scored three runs on two hits and one error to take a 3-1 edge.
The Lightning takes a three-run lead at the end of the third inning.
GBC would grab the lead when junior outfielder Christian Petrillo hit a two-out, inside-the-park, grand slam home run to give his team a 5-3 advantage in the top of the second inning.
Goldey-Beacom would widen their lead in the next inning, as Sophomore outfielder Anthony Charles slapped an RBI double to right center to give his team a 6-3 lead.
Goldey-Beacom takes home a 10-8 win!
Post would slice the Lightning’s lead to two (6-4) in the fourth when Michael Pavelchak pushed in a run with a Sac fly to centerfield.
GBC would push their advantage to four (10-6) in the top of the fifth when the team scored four runs on one hit.
Christian Petrillo would record his fifth RBI of the game in this inning as he pushed a run home when he was issued a walk to take the score to 7-4.
Braden Kolmansberger would be the next batter up, as he would smoke a three-run triple to center field to give his team a 10-6 edge.
The Eagles came soaring back in the bottom of the fifth, as the team scored four runs on five hits to cut the deficit to 10-8. But it wouldn’t be enough, as Goldey would hang on to win 10-8.
Pitching Recap:
Sophomore starting pitcher Nate Miller went 4.2 innings, nine hits, eight runs, four earned runs, two walks, struck out two batters, hit one batter, and earned the win.
Junior pitcher Ryan Pozo closed out the game by pitching 2.1 innings, giving up four hits, hitting one batter, and earning the save.
