Bohmann records 5 RBIs in Goldey-Beacom’s sweep of Post

The Goldey-Beacom College softball team would earn a sweep on Tuesday as the team picked up two wins over the Post University Eagles.

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom leads by two runs at the end of the first inning.

The Lightning would strike first in this game, as the team scored four runs on four hits and one error to take a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning. 

Junior infielder Bryn Bohmann would step up to plate with the bases loaded in the inning, and she pushed in the first run of the game with a walk to give her team a 1-0 lead.

Sophomore infielder Morgan Scott was the next batter up, as she would reach on base from an error from Post’s third baseman, which allowed a base runner to go home to give the GBC a 2-0 edge.

Two batters later, sophomore infielder Rayna Pelcak would slap a two-run single to left center to extend the team’s advantage to 4-0.

Post would cut into Goldey-Beacom’s lead in the bottom of the first inning when Lily Tomasiello slammed a two-run homer to left field to cut the score to 4-2.

The Lightning leads by three runs at the end of the third inning.

GBC would increase their advantage in the top of the third inning when Bryn Bohmann slugged a solo home run to center field to give her team a 5-2 edge.

Goldey-Beacom takes home a 13-4 win!

Two innings later, The Lightning would strike in a big way, as the team scored eight runs on ten hits to take the score a 13-2.

Four players would push in a run with a single, which included junior outfielder Bri Snover, sophomore catcher Emma Friel, Junior infielder Alex Lowry, and Bryn Bohmann.

Sophomore infielder Autumn Simpson and Senior outfielder Hannah Davis each scored two runs on a single. Simpson had two singles in the inning that each pushed in a run.

The Eagles would add two runs in the bottom of the inning, but the Lightning would still take home a 13-4 victory.

Pitching Recap:

 Senior starting pitcher Abigail O’Shields pitched five innings, gave up two hits, four runs, three earned runs, two walks, struck out six batters, hit one batter, and earned the win.
