Wilmington University’s winning streak hits 10 with a sweep over Adelphi

Wilmington University leads by four runs at the end of the third inning.

After only getting one hit through the first two innings of the second game of the doubleheader, the WilmU batters would start to spark in the bottom of the third, where the team scored four runs on two hits and two errors to grab a 4-0 advantage.

Senior outfielder Isabella Eleazar started the scoring in the inning, as she scored on a throwing error by the Panthers’ third baseman to give her team a 1-0 lead.

Senior shortstop Lexi Moore would step up to the plate next, as she slapped a two-run double to left field to push the Wildcats edge to 3-0.

Two batters later, Sara Miller knocked a RBI double to left field to give her team a 4-0 advantage.

The Wildcats lead by five runs at the end of the fifth inning.

Two innings later, WilmU would widen their lead when Sara Miller pushed in a run with a sac fly to extend the team’s edge to 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth.

Wilmington University takes home a 7-0 win!

The Wildcats would pick up two more runs in the sixth inning when junior catcher Emma Zimmerman and Lexi Moore each hit a RBI single to give their team a 7-0 advantage.

Pitching Recap:

Redshirt sophomore starting pitcher Delani Sheehan had a solid day on the mound in the game, as she went seven innings, gave up five hits, two walks, struck out four batters, and earned the win.
