Goldey-Beacom takes a three-run lead at the end of the fourth inning.
The starting pitchers were the stars of this game in the first three innings, as Concord’s Nancy-Jo Roberts and the Lightning’s junior Morgan McLane would confuse hitters and give up zero runs.
That would all change in the top of the fourth inning, where GBC would score three runs on four hits and an error to take a 3-0 lead.
The first run of the inning would come from McKenna Frank, who hit an RBI single to left field to put her team up 1-0.
Hannah Davis would come up next and slap an RBI single to left field to push Goldey Beacom’s edge to 2-0. On the next play, Alesia Doctor would score a throwing error by the Mountain Lions catcher to extend the team’s advantage to 3-0.
The Lightning takes home a 5-1 victory!
Three innings later, GBC would get a more comfortable cushion to their lead when they scored two runs on three hits and an error to put the score at 5-0.
The first scoring play of the top of the seventh inning happened when Bryn Bohmann got on base from a throwing error, which allowed Alex Lowry and Hannah Davis to score to take the score to 5-0.
Concord would get their first run of the game on the board in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough, as Goldey still won 5-1.
