The Goldey-Beacom College softball team would earn a sweep on Friday as the team picked up wins versus the Ashland University Eagles (5-0) and Concord University Mountain Lions (5-1).

Goldey-Beacom takes a three-run lead after two innings.
The Lightning wouldn’t waste any time getting on the board in this matchup, as the team scored two runs on four hits to take a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Freshman Utility player McKenna Frank would start the inning by getting on base by hitting a double to left field.
Senior outfielder Hannah Davis would come up next and pick up a bunt single. On the next play, Davis would steal second base.
Junior infielder Bryn Bohmann would step up to the plate next, and she would slap a double to left field to give her team a 2-0 edge.
GBC would add another run in the bottom of the second inning when junior infielder Alex Lowry hit an RBI single to center field to push the team’s advantage to 3-0.
GBC would take their lead to four in the third inning.
Goldey-Beacom would continue to find ways to put runs on the board in the third inning as sophomore outfielder Delaney Insinga would get a run home on her sac fly to extend the team’s edge to 4-0.
Goldey-Beacom takes home a 5-0 win!
The scoring slowed for the Lightning in the next two innings, as they would not get another run in until the sixth, where sophomore pitcher Alesia Doctor would score on a throwing error by Ashland’s catcher to push the lead to 5-0.
Pitching Recap:
Senior starting pitcher Abigail O’Shields served her best stuff in this outing, as she went seven innings, gave up two hits, and struck out nine batters.
