The Goldey-Beacom College softball team would win one of their two games on Tuesday, as the team fell to Notre Dame (Ohio) 9-1 in the early match, and took home an 8-5 victory over the Seton Hill University Griffins in the second matchup.

Goldey-Beacom trails by one run after the end of the first inning.
Seton Hill wouldn’t waste any time to score in this game, as Camryn Murphy would hit an RBI single through the right side of the field to give her team a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
The Lightning would take a two-run lead after two innings.
GBC would strike back in the top of the second inning when the team scored three runs on three hits and one error to grab a 3-1 edge.
Sophomore infielder Autumn Simpson and sophomore infielder Morgan Scott would score the first two runs of the inning when they could go home from a Griffins fielding error to take a 2-1 lead.
Senior outfielder Hannah Davis would step up to the plate next, and she would slap an RBI single down the right field line to give Goldey a 3-1 advantage.
GBC adds another run to their lead in the fourth inning.
Autumn Simpson would bat in a run in the top of the fourth inning, as she hit an RBI double in the top of the fourth to push Goldey-Beacom’s advantage to 4-1.
Goldey-Beacom takes home an 8-5 victory!
The Lightning would not be done adding to their lead just yet, as the team would score four runs on five hits to push their edge to 8-1 in the top of the fourth inning.
After a ground out and three straight singles, junior infielder Bryn Bohmann would make her way to the plate and hit a two-run single through the left side of the field to extend GBC’s advantage to 6-1.
Two plays later, junior infielder Alex Lowry would score a wild pitch to give her team a 7-1 lead.
Autumn Simpson would continue her strong day as she pushed in another run with an RBI single to center field to take the score to 8-1.
Pitching Recap:
Senior starting pitcher Abigail O’Shields pitched brilliantly for six innings, only giving up one run and five hits during that time. But in the seventh inning, the Griffins lineup was able to manufacture hits to put four runs on the board, but the Lightning still eked out an 8-5 victory.
O’Shields went seven innings and gave up nine hits, five runs, four earned runs, one walk, and eight strikeouts.
