Amber Washington scores 21 points in Wilmington University’s 62-58 victory over Georgian Court

Wilmington University trails by three points at the end of the first quarter. 

The lead would bounce back and forth for the first two minutes and 74 seconds in this game. The last bucket that was scored during that time was from Amber Washington, who hit a layup and then drained a free throw to give the Wildcats a 6-4 edge with 7:26 remaining in the opening quarter. 

WilmU wouldn’t hold the lead for long, as Georgian Court’s Safiatu Kolliegbo would make a jump shot seconds later to tie the game at six.

WilmU would come out fighting back in the third quarter, as the team outscored the Lions 22-16 to tie the game at 41 heading into the final quarter.

Amber Washington, Aniyah Bond, and Daja Claiborne would be serving up highlights during this time, as the trio scored 20 of the 22 points.

Wilmington University takes home a 62-58 victory!

In the first two minutes of the final quarter, Georgian Court would pull ahead with a four-point lead (45-41) with 8:42 left in the game. 

Starting at the 7:50 minute mark, the Wildcats would punch by going on a 9-4 to grab a 50-49 edge with 6:32 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Trinity Brittingham would have the hot hand during this stretch, as she scored six of the team’s nine points.

Two minutes and one second later, Aniyah Bond would push WilmU’s advantage to four points (55-51) when she drained a three-pointer.

Seconds later, the Lions would roar back by outscoring Wilmington 7-1 to grab a 58-56 edge with 2:42 left in the game.

WilmU would keep fighting as the team scored six unanswered points to seal a 62-58 victory over Georgian Court.
