Judge’s 28 points help Goldey-Beacom pull away with a 104-96 win over Staten Island

The Lightning would trail by seven at the end of the first half.

Goldey-Beacom’s advantage did not last long, as Staten Island responded by scoring ten unanswered points to give their team a 14-7 lead with 14:17 remaining in the first half. The Dolphins’ defense was a key reason this run happened, as the team grabbed four defensive rebounds and three steals.

Twelve seconds later, Staten Island would continue to add to their advantage as they would go on a 12-2 run to extend their lead to 26-9 with 8:26 left in the opening half. The Dolphins’ defense would remain solid during this time, as the team had two steals, two blocks, and five defensive rebounds.

Starting at the 8:20 minute mark, the Lightning would climb back into this game as the team outscored Staten Island 32-22 to cut the lead to seven points (48-41) at the end of the first half. The trio of Ayshion Centeno, Zayon Marsh, and Tyshon Judge scored 25 of Goldey-Beacom’s 32 points on the run.

Starting at the ten-minute mark, Staten Island would claw their way back into this game, as the team outscored the Lightning 26-12 to grab an 89-88 lead with 4:22 remaining in the second half.

It would not take long for Goldey-Beacom to strike back, as almost a minute later, the team went on a 13-5 run to take a 101-94 advantage with 29 seconds left in the game. The trio of Aikens, Judge, and Zayon Marsh would score all the Lightning’s 13 points during that time.

In the last remaining seconds of the game, Goldey-Beacom would score three more points to seal a 104-96 victory over the Dolphins.
