Four Goldey-Beacom players score in double-digits in 90-68 win over Wilmington University

Goldey-Beacom leads by four points after one-quarter of play

The game started with the Lightning striking fast with a 7-2 advantage with 7:58 left in the first quarter. Sophomore guard Mickey Williams and Jhordan Gardner would score all seven points on the run.

Fifty-five seconds later, Wilmington would claw right back into the game as they went on a 5-2 run to cut the lead to two points (9-7) with 5:39 remaining in the first quarter.

Goldey-Beacom would respond by scoring four straight points to push their lead to 13-7 with 3:58 left in the first quarter. During that streak, Alexis Harrison, and Lexi Weikert each swiped a steal.

Starting at the 3:31 minute mark, the Wildcats would outscore the Lightning 7-3 to trim the lead to two points (16-14) with 1:55 left in the first quarter.

The first quarter would end with junior guard Mone Izumi hitting a layup to give Goldey-Beacom an 18-14 lead.

Lightning take a 16 point lead into the end of the first half

In the first two minutes of the second quarter, Goldey-Beacom came dashing out on a 5-1 run, which gave the team a 23-15 lead with 8:02 left in the first half. Jhordan Gardner would score four of the five points on the run.

Wilmington would respond by scoring seven straight points to cut the lead to two points (23-21) with 6:25 left in the first half. Sabreen Muslim and Amaja Mack would score all seven points for the Wildcats.

Starting at the 5:27 minute mark, the Lightning would widen their lead as the team flew off on a 22-8 run to end the first half with a 45-29 advantage. The duo of Alanna Speaks and Lexi Weikert would score 11 of the 29 points on the run. Goldey’s defense stepped up during that time as the team had six steals, and Weikert would swipe three of them.

Goldey-Beacom leads by 18 points after three-quarters of play

The second half would start with the Lightning holding on to their large lead as the team outscored Wilmington 17-13 to take a 62-42 lead with 3:38 remaining in the third quarter.

At the 3:13 minute mark, Wilmington would start to outscore Goldey-Beacom 6-4 to trim the lead to 66-48 at the end of the third quarter.

Lightning wins 90-68!

Goldey-Beacom would start the fourth quarter off by going on a 15-7 run, which would push their lead to 81-55 with 5:08 left in the game. The trio of freshman forward Patitta Rojanasoonthon, Alexis Harrison, and sophomore guard Briana Seltzer would score 11 of the 15 points on the run.

Starting at the 4:43 minute mark, Wilmington would outscore the Lightning 13-9, but it would not matter as Goldey-Beacom still took home a dominating 90-68 win.
