Caldwell takes the early lead in the first inning
The Cougars would get the scoring started in the game as the team used two sacrifice flies to push in two runs in the top of the first inning.
In the bottom of the first inning, Wilmington would get on the board by Haley Downin grounding out to the third base, but it would allow Sara Miller to score to cut the lead to 2-1.
Wilmington ties the game in third & take the lead in the fourth inning
Caldwell would add to their lead in the top of the third inning as Courtney Grundhauser would hit a two-out RBI single to give her team a 3-1 advantage.
Then it was the Wildcats turn in the bottom of the inning, as Alyssa Velasquez would get the action started as she hit a double to the right-center field.
On the next play, Haley Downin would reach first base on a fielder’s choice.
The next batter up would be Lauren Lopez as she hit a single to right field, which brought home Velasquez to decrease the lead to 3-2 in the third inning.
Two batters later, Isabella Eleazar would reach first base on an error, which allowed Downin to score to tie the game up at three runs.

After three innings of work, WilmU’s starting pitcher Haley Downin’s day would be over as she gave up three hits, three runs, three earned runs, one walk, and one strikeout.
Alexandra Ballester would enter the game to relieve Downin in the top of the fourth inning.
Ballester would get all three batters she faced out in the fourth inning.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the action on the bases for Wilmington would start with Sara Miller hitting a triple to the right-center field.
Alyssa Velasquez would be the next batter up as she hit a single to left field, which would score Miller to give their team a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning.
Cougars add runs in the fifth and seventh innings to take back the lead
Caldwell would score the tying run (4-4) in the fifth inning as Lauren Stansell would ground out, but it allowed Gabriella DeLuca to score.
Two innings later, Stansell and DeLuca would back at it as they would score off Taylor Mischler’s double to give the Cougars a 6-4 lead.
After those two runs, Wilmington’s Alexandra Ballester day would be done as she went 3.2 innings, gave up six hits, three runs, three earned runs, and three strikeouts.
Molly Dill would come in for Ballester and get the only batter she faced to pop out.
Wildcats score three runs in the seventh to get the win!
In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Wildcats would start their pursuit for a comeback win, with Haley Downin reaching first base on an error.
Lauren Lopez would be up next as she would reach first base on a fielder’s choice.
Two batters later, Isabella Eleazar would hit a single to right field, which would bring home Renamarie Rocha to cut the lead to 6-5 in the seventh.
Three plays later, Kiersten Comer would reach first base on an error, which would allow Annie Davila to score to tie the game at six runs.

The next play would be the walk-off winner for Wilmington as Arianna Millan would reach first base on an error, but that would bring home Eleazar to seal a 7-6 win and a place in the CACC semifinals!
