Lightning take a slim early lead in the first inning
The scoring would get started in this game when Goldey-Beacom’s Mason Maxwell hit a two-run home run to give his team a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

In the bottom of the first inning, Nyack would put a run on the board when Andrew Brooks hit a single to the shortstop, which would score Eric Bittiger to cut the lead to 2-1.
Goldey-Beacom adds two more runs in the third inning
Ivan Solis would be the first Lightning player on base in the third inning as he hit a single to the right-center field.
The next batter would be Bryan Bell, who would hit a double to center field, which would score Solis to give their team a 3-1 lead.
Demetrius Johnson would be the next to come to the plate as he hit a single up the middle of the field, which would score Bell to give Goldey-Beacom a 4-1 lead in the top of the third inning.
Goldey adds three more runs to their lead in the fourth inning
The top of the fourth inning started with Dalen Griffith and Connor Megginson, each hitting a single to get on base. Mason Maxwell would get on base by a fielder’s choice and then would steal second base on the next play.
Marshall Awtry would be the next to bat as he hit a double to center field, which would score Maxwell and Griffith to extend the Lightning’s lead to 6-1 in the fourth inning.
Kyle Walker would be the next Goldey player to get on base as he earned a walk. Walker would follow that up by stealing second base on the next play.
Awtry would score on a passed ball which gave his team a 7-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning.

Lightning continue to add to their lead in the fifth inning
Demetrius Johnson would start the top of the fifth inning off with a single, and then on the next play, he would steal second base.
Joey Jourdan would be the next batter up as he earned a walk and then followed that up by stealing second base. Johnson would also steal third base on the same play.
Dalen Griffith would come up to the plate as he would ground out to the second base, but it would allow Johnson to score to push Goldey-Beacom’s lead to 8-1.
Connor Megginson would be the next batter as he hit a single to the left side of the field, which would score Jourdan to give their team a 9-1 lead in the fifth inning.
Mason Maxwell would follow Megginson as he would hit a triple to center field, which allowed Megginson to score to extend the Lightning’s lead to 10-1.
The last run of the inning came when Marshall Awtry hit into a sacrifice fly (flied out to left field), which would bring Maxwell home to expand Goldey’s lead to 11-1.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Nyack would score two more runs, which would cut the lead to 11-3.
After a tough fifth inning, Goldey-Beacom’s starting pitcher Trevor Jump’s day would be over as he went five innings, gave up eight hits, three runs, three earned runs, three walks, eight strikeouts, hit one batter, and earned the win.
Carlos Solis would come into the game to relieve Jump for the Lightning.
Goldey-Beacom wins 13-3!
Goldey was not done adding runs to their lead just yet, as the team added two more runs in the eighth inning.
The first run of the inning came when Demetrius Johnson hit into a sacrifice fly (flied out to center field), which would allow his teammate Kyle Walker to score to give their team a 12-3 lead.
Joey Jourdan would be the next batter up as he hit into a sacrifice fly (flied out to right field), which allowed Bryan Bell to score to extend Goldey-Beacom’s lead to 13-3.
It would be all up to Carlos Solis to seal the win for the Lightning, as he cut down all three batters he faced in the eighth inning to deliver the 13-3 win.
