Allen scores season-high 26 points as Blue Hens sweep Elon

Hens lead by nine at the half

The game started with Elon jumping out to a quick 8-3 lead, which was thanks to Hunter Woods and Hunter McIntosh, who each drained a three-pointer on the run. The Phoenix defense also came out ready to go as the team had four defensive rebounds and one block in the early 8-3 run.

Starting at the 14:35 minute mark, the Blue Hens started to warm up as the team went on a 13-7 run, which gave them a 16-15 lead with 9:51 left in the first half. The leader of this run was Ryan Allen, who scored eight of the 13 points.

In the final 8:51 minutes of the first half, Delaware would outscore Elon 18-10 to push their lead to nine points (34-25) at the end of the first half. The duo of Dylan Painter and Allen scored 15 points of the 18 points on the run. The Hens three-point shot was working on this run as the team sunk three shots. The three-pointers on the run came from Allen (2) and Kevin Anderson (1).

Blue Hens win by five

The second half started with the Hens flying off to a 15-7 run, which extended their lead to 49-32 with 13:47 left in regulation. The three-point shot was once again a key to a run as the team hit three. The three-pointers on the run came from Ryan Allen, sophomore guard Ebby Asamoah, and Andrew Carr.

About four minutes later, Delaware’s lead would grow to 20 points (60-40), with Kevin Anderson draining another three-pointer at the 9:19 mark in the second half.

Starting at the 5:48 minute mark, Elon would start climbing back into the game as the team went on a 24-10 run to cut the lead to six points (70-64) with 38 seconds left in the game.

The Blue Hens would make five free throw shots in the final seconds of the game to earn a 75-70 win over the Phoenix.
