Two walk-off winners over Wilmington University send Goldey-Beacom to the next round of the CACC Tournament

The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team advanced to the next stage of the CACC Tournament, as the team earned a sweep on Friday as the team picked up two wins versus the Wilmington University Wildcats with a 7-6 walk-off victory and a 4-3 walk-off triumph.

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom trails by four runs at the end of the first inning.

Wilmington University would strike first in this game, as GBC errors would play a part in the team’s four runs in the top of the first inning.

Jack McDonald would get WilmU on the board first by going home on a wild pitch to give his team a 1-0 edge.

Erik Grady would come up to the plate next and smoke a two-run single to center field to push the score to 3-0.

Zach Walker would send a run home later in the inning when he was issued a walk to give his team a 4-0 advantage.

The Lightning takes a two-run lead after the fifth inning.

Goldey-Beacom would get on the board in the bottom of the second inning when senior infielder Garrett Musey slugged a solo home run to left field to cut the score 4-1.

Two innings later, Junior outfielder Mitch Jolikko would blast a three-run homer right center to tie the game at four.

 GBC would add two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning when Senior first baseman Kyle Walker smacked a two-run single through the right side to give his team a 6-4 edge.

Goldey-Beacom gets a 7-6 walk-off win!

WilmU would claw back in this game in the top of the sixth when Tyler Pirrung hit an RBI single down the first base line to slice the score to 6-5.

Matt Warrington would push in the tying run (6-6) in the top of the ninth with a Sac Fly.

 Senior infielder Darin Miller would send the Lightning fans home happy by starting the bottom of the inning off with a walk-off homer to right field to give his team a 7-6 victory.

Pitching Recap:

Senior pitcher Justin Jump went one inning and gave up three hits, four runs, and three earned runs.

Sophomore pitcher Kevin Dillon came in the game for Jump and went 4.2 innings, gave up three hits, one run, one earned run, and one walk, and struck out three batters.

Junior pitcher Gage Bendix closed out the game by going 3.1 innings, giving up four hits, one run, and striking out four batters in a win.
