The Wilmington University softball team is heading to the CACC Championship after picking up a 4-3 win in the second game of the day versus the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning. The Wildcats lost their first game of the day to the University of Bridgeport Athletics 4-2.

Wilmington University takes a two-run lead in the second inning.
The Wildcats would get on the board first in this CACC tourney matchup, as Graduate student infielder Sam Freeland, and junior catcher Emma Zimmerman each would record an RBI single to give their team a 2-0 edge in the bottom of the second inning.
The Wildcats lose the lead as Goldey-Beacom ties the game at two in the third.
The Lightning would respond in the top of the third inning with Bryn Bohmann knocking an RBI single to center field and Morgan Scott sending a run home with a Sac Fly to tie the game at two.
Wilmington University takes home a 4-3 win!
WilmU would grab the lead once again in the bottom of the fifth inning when senior designated player Sara Miller slapped a double to right center and then junior outfielder Taylor Gillis pushed in a run with a Sac Fly to give their team a 4-2 advantage.
Goldey-Beacom would add one more run in the top of the sixth, but it would be enough, as the Wildcats took home a 4-3 win!
Pitching Recap:
Redshirt sophomore starting pitcher Delani Sheehan went 5.2 innings, ten hits, three runs, earned three runs, and struck out one batter in a win.
Senior pitcher Haley Downin closed out the game by going 1.1 innings, struck one batter, and earned the save.
