Goldey-Beacom clinches a spot in the CACC tournament with a split versus Wilmington University

The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team picked up a split on Saturday versus the Wilmington University Wildcats with a 17-0 win (Game One) and a 5-4 loss (Game Two).

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom would lead by seven runs at the end of the second inning.

The Lightning would strike first in this game, as senior infielder Garrett Musey blasted a three-run homer to left field to give his team a 3-0 edge in the top of the opening inning.

GBC would widen their lead in the top of the second inning when the team scored four runs on five hits to take a 7-0 advantage.

Junior infielder Braden Kolmansberger would get the scoring started in the inning as he slapped an RBI single to first base to push the score to 4-0. 

Two plays later, senior infielder Darin Miller smoked a two-run single to left field to give his team a 6-0 advantage.

Garrett Musey would come up to the plate next, as he recorded his fourth RBI of the game with a double down the left field line to push the team’s lead to 7-0.

The Lightning holds an 11-run lead at the end of the fourth inning.

Goldey-Beacom’s lead would explode at the top of the fourth inning when the team scored four runs on two hits and two errors to push their edge to 11-0.

Darin Miller started the scoring in the inning by recording his fourth RBI of the game when he slugged a two-run homer to left-center to give the team a 9-0 lead.

Five batters later, Junior infielder Dante DiSabatino would push in a run when he reached first base on a fielding error by WilmU’s pitcher to take the score to 10-0.

Junior catcher Adam McEvoy would push in the last run of the inning with a Sac Fly to right field to give his team an 11-0 advantage.

GBC takes home a 17-0 win.

The Lightning would continue to pour on the runs in the top of the fifth inning as Senior first baseman Kyle Walker and sophomore outfielder Anthony Charles each hit a solo homer to put the score at 13-0.

Darin Miller would give Goldey-Beacom a 15-0 lead in the top of the sixth when he slapped a two-run double to right field.

Goldey-Beacom would add two more runs in the top of the seventh inning to seal a 17-0 victory.

Pitching Recap:

Senior pitcher Justin Jump dominated the Wildcats batters in the win as he went seven innings, gave up one hit, three walks, and struck out three batters.
