The University of Delaware men’s basketball team earned its ninth victory of the season with a 76-67 victory over the Missouri State Bears.
Senior guard Justyn Fernandez led the Blue Hens in scoring in the win, with 23 points.
Three other Hens players scored in double digits in the victory: Sophomore forward Macon Emory(18), Senior forward Tyler Houser (21), and Junior guard Christian Bliss (12).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories during the game, including points in the paint (30-20), fast-break points (8-4), and points off turnovers (9-7).
UD also had the advantage in shooting, with the team boasting 53% (26-49) and Missouri State 37%(22-59). The Blue Hens also bested the Bears from the three-point line, with the team shooting 44%( 8-18) and Missouri State shooting 36%(10-28). Delaware also outshot the Bears at the free-throw line, with the team shooting 94%(16-17), and Missouri State 72%(13-18).

After trailing 5-0 right out of the gate, UD would find a rhythm and go on an 8-2 run to overtake the Bears and take an 8-7 edge with 15:07 left in the opening period. Tyler Houser led the charge, scoring four of the eight points.
Fast forward to the 7:57 mark, where the Hens pushed their advantage to five points (23-18) when Justyn Fernandez drained a three-pointer.
Delaware would continue to outscore Missouri State for the rest of the first half to take a 35-25 lead into halftime. Ferenandez saw the basket clearly during that time, scoring seven of the team’s points.
Delaware takes home a 76-67 win!
Two minutes and 47 seconds into the second half, Macon Emory nailed a three-pointer to put the Blue Hens up 42-28.
Missouri State punched back by dashing off on a 15-4 run to tighten the deficit to three points (46-43) with 13:13 left in the game.
Three minutes later, Keith Pelak III hit a three-pointer to pull the Bears within one point of the lead (51-50) with 10:25 on the clock.
UD would not lose the lead, but the team found its way again by going on a 13-3 run to extend its edge to take a 64-53 advantage with 3:46 left in the second half. Tyler Houser and Emory confused the Missouri State defenders during this time, scoring 11 of the 13 points.
In the final minutes of the game, Delaware added 12 more points to seal a 76-67 win over the Bears.
