The University of Delaware men’s basketball team earned its second win of the season on Tuesday with a 73-60 victory over the UNC Greensboro Spartans.
Senior forward Tyler Houser led the team in scoring in the win with 24 points. He also recorded a double-double, collecting ten rebounds.
Junior guard Christian Bliss also recorded a double-double in the game, scoring 17 points and dishing out 11 assists.
Two other Hens players scored in double digits in the victory: Sophomore forward Macon Emory (18) and Senior guard Justyn Fernandez(12).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (30-8), points off of turnovers (11-8), blocks (2-1), assists (16-7), and rebounds (36-30).
UD also had the advantage in shooting, with the team boasting 52% (28-54) and UNC Greensboro 30%(16-53). The Blue Hens also bested the Spartans from the three-point line, with the team shooting 52%( 13-25) and UNCG shooting 33%(10-30).

The Blue Hens opened the game with a 5-0 run, as Tyler Houser and Christian Bliss scored the first five points.
UNC Greensboro started to shake off any rust and went on a 19-2 run to grab a 19-7 lead with 9:42 remaining in the first half.
UD punched back by outscoring the Spartans 20-10 for the rest of the opening period to slice the deficit to two points (29-27) heading into halftime. Houser led the charge during this stretch, scoring 11 of the team’s 20 points. The Hens were on fire from downtown, draining five shots from the three-point line.
The Blue Hens take home a 73-60 win!
Delaware came out with a new pep in their step in the early minutes of the second half, going on a 14-9 run to take a 41-38 edge with 14:43 remaining in the game. The Blue Hens continued their hot shooting from beyond the arc, sinking three more three-pointers during this stretch.
UD extended their lead by outscoring UNC Greensboro 14-8 over the next six minutes and 35 seconds, pushing the advantage to 55-46 with 8:32 remaining in the second half. Tyler Houser and Macon Emory gave the Spartans’ defenders fits, scoring ten of the 14 points.
UNCG responded with a surge, scoring five unanswered points to trim the deficit to 55-51 with 7:51 left in the game.
The Hens wouldn’t lose their lead, outscoring the Spartans 18-9 for the rest of the second half to seal a 73-60 win. Emory took charge during that time, scoring eight of the 18 points.
