The University of Delaware women’s basketball team opened the 2025-2026 season with a dominating 83-59 win over the Division II Bloomsburg University Huskies on Monday.
Sophomore guard Trinity Vance led the team in scoring in the win with 15 points.
Three other Hens players scored in double digits: Junior guard Aylasia Fantroy (14), sophomore guard Kendall Scott (11), and freshman guard Kailah Correa (11).
UD had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (40-32), fast-break points (14-4), points off of turnovers (23-9), turnovers (11-18), blocks (2-1), and rebounds (35-32).
The Blue Hens also had the advantage in shooting, with the team boasting 43.1 (25-58) and Bloomsburg 40.4(23-57). UD also bested the Huskies from the three-point line, with the team shooting 37.5(6-16) and Bloomsburg shooting 27.8(5-18). Delaware also outshot the Huskies at the free-throw line, with the team shooting 72.2(13-18), and Bloomsburg 47.1 (8-17).
The Blue Hens lead by 11 points at the end of the first quarter.
Delaware displayed no signs of rust in the first quarter of their season opener, as the team surged to a 20-9 lead. Junior center Ande’a Cherisier led the charge for the Hens during this time, scoring five points, scooping up one rebound, and having two blocks.

UD maintained a strong momentum in the second quarter, easily finding the basket and outscoring Bloomsburg 20-8. This dominant performance gave them a commanding halftime lead of 40-17. During this stretch, the trio of Kailah Correa, Kendall Scott, and junior forward Arantxa Portalez proved difficult to defend, contributing 12 of the 20 points scored in that run.
The Hens lead by 21 at the end of the third quarter.
After a slow first half, the Huskies would score in double digits in a period for the first time in the game with 22 in the third. The team outscored Delaware in the quarter, as the Blue Hens put up 20. Aylasia Fantroy had the hot hand during that time, scoring 11 of the team’s 20 points.

It was the Trinity Vance show in the fourth quarter as she scored 14 of UD’s 23 points to seal an 83-59 win for the Hens.
