Blue Hens Fall to Bucknell 78-70 Despite Strong Performances from Emory, Houser, Bliss, and Brown

The University of Delaware men’s basketball team opened the 2025-2026 season with a tough 78-70 loss to the Bucknell Bison on Monday.

Despite the loss, four Blue Hens players gave their team a fighting chance until the end: sophomore forward Macon Emory, senior forward Tyler Houser, junior guard Christian Bliss, and senior guard Jameel Brown.

The quartet gave it their all, combining for 60 of the team’s 70 points. The five other players on the team didn’t give much help, scoring 10 points in the loss.

Brown led the team in scoring in the game with 19 points. He made six of his 12 shots in the loss. The senior guard also drained four of six shots from the three-point line.

Bliss was right behind Brown with 16 points in the game. He made six of his 15 shots in the loss. The junior guard drained two of his four shots from the three-point line. Bliss made both of his shots from the free-throw line.

Houser had 12 points in the game, and he made five of his 12 shots. He drained two of his four shots from the three-point line in the loss.

Emory rounded out the scorers by dropping 13 points in the game. He made five of his 12 shots in the loss. The sophomore forward also made three of his four foul shots.

The Hens would be outshot in every category by the Bisons in this game. Bucknell also heavily outrebounded in the match, 42-34.
