The Goldey-Beacom women’s soccer team clinched a berth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament on Saturday with a 4-3 win over the Dominican University of New York Chargers.

The Lightning started the scoring off in this game as freshman forward Maddie Strayer found her way past multiple Chargers defenders to get the ball in for a score at the 12:19 minute mark to give her team a 1-0 edge. Sophomore forward Ryley Dixon assisted on the score.
Near the end of the first half, Dominican would convert two Penalty Kicks to head into the halftime with a 2-1 lead.
The Lightning takes home a 4-3 win!
GBC wouldn’t stay down for long, as at the 58:29 minute mark in the second half, Sophomore midfielder Tess Pearce found the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2. Ryley Dixon and sophomore midfielder Ella Badra assisted on the goal.
About 11 minutes and 28 seconds later, Pearce scored a goal off the rebound of her missed penalty kick to give Goldey a 3-2 advantage.
A couple of minutes later, the Chargers tied the score up at three with a goal of their own.
Then, fast forward to seconds left in the game, where junior defender Lexy Yeager found the back of the net to give the Lightning a dramatic 4-3 win. Pearce assisted on the game-winning goal.

The standouts in the game for the Lightning were Ryley Dixon, Maddie Strayer, Tess Pearce, Ella Badra, Lexy Yeager, and freshman goalkeeper Malaika Nunziata.
Dixon had six shots, two shots at the goal, and two assists in the win.
Strayer had two shots, one shot at the goal, and scored one goal in the game.
Pearce had ten shots, five shots at the goal, scored two goals, and had one assist in the match.
Badra had one assist in the win.
Nunziata allowed three goals and had four saves in 90 minutes in the win.
