The Wilmington University men’s soccer team earned its sixth win of the season on Wednesday with a 5-0 victory over the Mercy University Mavericks.

The Wildcats didn’t waste any time lighting up the scoreboard in this matchup, as sophomore forward Michiharu Takanashi found the net at the 2:27 mark to give his team a 1-0 advantage. Senior midfielder Shuntaro Morimoto assisted on Takanashi’s score.
Close to 12 and a half minutes later, WilmU graduate student Theo Faillon pushed the ball past Mercy’s goalkeeper to give his team a 2-0 edge. Senior midfielder Alex Tarway assisted on Faillon’s goal.
At the 18:36 minute mark, Faillon would make a penalty goal to give the Cats a 3-0 lead.

Michiharu Takanashi found the goal once again, but this time it was at the 67-minute mark to put WilmU up 4-0. Sophomore defender Ole Themsfeldt and Graduate student midfielder Tyrese Small
assisted with the score.
Almost two and a half minutes later, Theo Faillon scored his third goal of the game to seal a 5-0 win for Wilmington.

The standouts in the game for the Wildcats were Theo Faillon, Alex Tarway, Shuntaro Morimoto, Tyrese Small, Ole Themsfeldt, and freshman goalkeeper Emil Lollike.
