Goldey-Beacom Scores Twice in Second Half to Defeat Felician 4-3

The Goldey-Beacom men’s soccer team earned its second win of the season on Saturday with a 4-3 victory over the Felician University Golden Falcons.

Goldey-Beacom leads by one at the end of the first half.

The Lightning would start the scoring in this match as senior midfielder Derrick Muhire would find the net to give his team a 1-0 edge at the 26-minute mark. Senior midfielder Luis Brugal assisted on Muhire’s goal.

Thirteen minutes later, Goldey-Beacom would add to its lead when sophomore midfielder/forward Aaron Nelson blasted the ball into the net to put the advantage at 2-0.

In the last seconds of the first half, Felician would get on the board when Yusuf Mahmoud scored a goal.  Sebastian Anaya assisted on Mahmoud’s goal.

The Lightning takes home a 4-3 win!

Yusuf Mahmoud began the second half the same way the first half ended, scoring a goal, but this time he tied the game at two at the 46:36 mark.

At the 58:09 mark, sophomore midfielder Sam Ball would put GBC back on top when he found the net to give his team a 3-2 advantage. Sophomore defender Daniel Granado assisted on the score.

Junior forward Ajoma Smith gave the team a 4-2 edge a couple of minutes later, when he rocketed the ball in for a long score.

The Golden Falcons would score one more time down the stretch, narrowing the gap, but Goldey-Beacom held firm to secure the 4-3 victory.
