The Delaware State University’s football team secured its second win of the season on Saturday, defeating the Division II Bowie State Bulldogs 36-14.

DSU opened the game with a blaze by going on a 65-yard two-play drive that ended with senior quarterback Kaiden Bennett finding senior wideout Phillippe Wesley for the 64-yard touchdown pass. That would give them a 7-0 edge with 14:23 remaining in the first quarter.
Two drives later, the Hornets would find the endzone again when senior running back NyGhee Lolley ran for 58 yards on the fourth play of the drive to give his team a 14-0 lead with 11:56 left in the opening quarter.
Bowie State responded with a 37-yard, seven-play drive, capped by quarterback Malakai Anthony’s 8-yard touchdown pass to Antwain Banks, narrowing the score to 14-7 with 9:29 left in the first quarter.
Delaware State scored again near the end of the first quarter, pushing the lead to 21-7 at the 2:30 mark.
The Hornets lead by 23 points at the end of the second quarter.
DSU extended its advantage to 28-7 with 8:35 left in the first half, as Kaiden Bennett threw his second touchdown of the game.
Three drives later, Delaware State added two points on a safety, making it 30-7.
Delaware State takes home a 36-14 win!
The Hornets would score one more time in this game, and that was on the seventh play on their first drive of the second half, when Kaiden Bennett dashed 24 yards for the touchdown to give his team a 36-7 lead.
Bowie State added a late touchdown in the fourth quarter, but DSU’s dominant performance secured the 36-14 victory.

The offensive standouts in the game for Delaware State were quarterback Kaiden Bennett, junior running back James Jones, running back NyGhee Lolley, and wide receiver Phillippe Wesley.
Bennett completed 17 of his 29 passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns in the win. He also rushed for a touchdown in the game.
Jones rushed for 100 yards on eight carries in the victory.
Lolley ran for 58 yards on one carry with one touchdown in the game.
Wesley had six receptions for 71 yards and one touchdown in the win.
