The Wilmington University baseball team won their first 2025 NCAA DII East Region II Tournament match on Saturday by crushing the Molloy University Lions 14-5.

Wilmington University leads by three runs at the end of the fourth inning.
The Wildcats struck first in this match, scoring three runs on four hits in the fourth inning to take a 3-0 edge.
Senior catcher/ first baseman Nick Classie and sophomore shortstop/pitcher Garrett Quinn each hit an RBI single in the inning.
Sophomore outfielder/pitcher Brandon Grygo smoked an RBI double down the right-field line in the inning.
The Wildcats led by five runs at the end of the fifth inning.
Molloy responded in the top of the fifth inning by scoring five runs on six hits to grab a 5-3 advantage.
The Lions’ lead didn’t last long as WilmU scored seven runs on four hits and two errors to regain a 10-5 edge in the bottom of the inning.
Four runs in the inning were scored due to Molloy’s numerous errors, and two other runners came home from an RBI ground out and a bases-loaded walk.
Sophomore pitcher/first baseman Chase Fleming capped the scoring off with an RBI double down the left-field line, which gave his team a 10-5 lead.
Wilmington University takes home a 14-5 victory!
Redshirt junior outfielder Cam Trego came up in the sixth inning and blasted a two-run homer to extend WilmU’s edge to 12-5.
Graduate student infielder Josearmando Diaz slugged a solo homer out of the park in the seventh to give the Cats a 13-5 advantage.
Brandon Grygo recorded his second RBI of the day in the eighth with a triple to right field to push Wilmington’s lead to 14-5.
Pitching Recap:
Senior pitcher Scott Borgmann earned the win by pitching 4.2 innings, giving up three hits, four walks, and striking out four batters.
