The Wilmington University softball team is moving on to the NCAA Division II East Region 2 Finals for the fourth straight year after defeating the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning 3-2 on Friday.

Wilmington University takes home a 3-2 win!
Senior catcher Bella Barnes would put the Cats on the board first in this game with an RBI single to center field in the bottom of the opening inning to take the score to 1-0.
WilmU would score two more runs in the third inning when senior outfielder Tristyn Stewart scored on a passed ball, and Freshman Gracie Mabrey went home on a wild pitch to extend their team’s edge to 3-0.
Fast forward to the seventh inning, where Goldey-Beacom would bat two RBI singles in, but that wouldn’t be enough to come back, with Wilmington hanging on to win 3-2.
Pitching Recap:
Freshman pitcher/outfielder Maddie Vollmar earned the win in the game by going 6.2 innings, giving up four hits, two runs, two earned runs, one walk, and striking out four.
Graduate student pitcher Delani Sheehan earned the save by going 0.1 innings.
