Goldey-Beacom earns a split over Chestnut Hill

The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team earned a split versus the Chestnut Hill College Griffins on Saturday with a 7-1 win in the first game and a 12-5 loss in the second.

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom leads by four runs at the end of the fourth inning.

The Lightning struck first in this game when senior infielder Braden Kolmansberger pushed in a run when he reached on a fielder’s choice to give his team a 1-0 edge in the opening inning.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Bolts’ advantage would go to 3-0 with a sacrifice fly from Senior infielder Jaden Dickerson and a sacrifice bunt from Christian Petrillo.

Petrillo would push in another run in the fourth inning, with a Sac Fly giving Goldey-Beacom a 4-0 lead.

The Lightning takes home a 7-1 win!

In the top of the fifth inning, Chestnut Hill would get on the board with a solo home run to take the score to 4-1.

Fast forward to the bottom of the seventh inning, where GBC scored three runs on two hits and one error to seal a 7-1 win.

The first run of the inning came when Christian Petrillo scored on a throwing error.

Later in the inning,  Braden Kolmansberger slugged a two-run homer to left field to give his team a 7-1 lead.

Pitching Recap:

Junior pitcher Connor Blence earned the win in the game by pitching seven innings, giving up five hits, one run, one earned run, two walks, and striking out six.
