Goldey-Beacom’s pitching & hitting dominate in sweep over Post

On Friday, the Goldey-Beacom College softball team swept the Post University Eagles. The Lightning won the first game 10-1 and picked up another victory 10-2.

Game Recap GM1:

Goldey-Beacom leads by nine runs at the end of the second inning.

The Lightning struck first in this game by scoring three runs in the bottom of the opening inning.

Senior pitcher Wynter Radcliffe and Junior infielder Autumn Simpson each hit an RBI single in the inning.

 Senior infielder  Alex Lowry also hit an RBI double to left field in the first.

GBC widened their lead to nine runs in the second inning by scoring six runs on six hits.

Sophomore Utility player McKenna Frank started the scoring in the inning with an RBI double to left center.

Senior infielder Bryn Bohmann and Senior pitcher Caitlyn Burch each hit an RBI single in the second.

Later in the inning, senior outfielder Davi Jimenez pushed in a run on a fielder’s choice.

Senior outfielder Bri Snover capped the inning with a two-run double to left field to help her team to a 9-0 advantage.

The Lightning takes home a 10-1 win!

  Senior Utility player Ariana Mirenda pushed the Bolts’ edge to ten in the third when she pushed home a run with a SAC Fly.

Post would score their first run of the game in the fourth, and Goldey-Beacom still took home a 10-1 win.

Pitching Recap:

Senior pitcher Cat Nelson went five innings, gave up three hits, one run, one walk, struck out five, and earned the win.

Game Recap GM2:

Goldey-Beacom leads by three at the end of the first inning.

The Lightning would light up the scoreboard first in this game by scoring three runs on four hits in the opening inning.

 Ariana Mirenda, Wynter Radcliffe, and Autumn Simpson each hit an RBI double in the first.

The Lightning takes home a 10-2 win!

Post cut the deficit to one ( 3-2) in the top of the second with two walks pushing in runs.

Goldey-Beacom pushed their edge to 5-2 in the bottom of the inning, when McKenna Frank and Bryn Bohmann each hit a RBI double.

The Lightning widened their lead to 10-2 in the third when Freshman Catcher Bri Cole slugged a three-run homer and Ariana Mirenda hit a two-run bomb.

Pitching Recap:

Caitlyn Burch earned the win in the game, giving up two hits, striking out six, hit one batter in 3.2 innings.
